Marriage Jug 1849

Description

A lovely, 174 year old, Jug, dating from 1849 which was specially commissioned to celebrate a marriage. The porcelain Jug is decorated with hand-painted strawberries, moulded in relief, a symbol of love and romance, and beautifully gilded, bearing the name 'G & J Arnold'. It has two 'firing cracks', one which is only visible inside at the base and the other small crack next to the handle. These are typical of cracks which occurred during the several 'firings' of the piece, after baking, decorating and glazing, but none of which affect the overall presentation or display of the item.
