Description

A very interesting Item, from the estate of Lord ‘Eddie George’, Baron of St. Tudy. This is an 18th Century Silver Pounce Pot, for scattering powdered pumice or fine sand over a letter in order to dry the ink. Eddie George was Governor of the Bank of England and received his peerage during the administration of Margaret Thatcher. The piece has had some damage and that is shown in the photographs, but overall it is an exciting piece with good Provenance. It was sold by Sworders’ in their Saleroom at Stansted Mount Fitchet.
