Seller Name: Fr. Paul KinseyAn interesting lot of Faience Ware, comprising a Posy Bowl and a Dish, typical of the city of Rouen, in Normandy. These items were bought by a member of the Norfolk Regiment who bought them in France at the end of WWI, and who escorted, and acted as one of the Pallbearers at the second memorial Service and Committal of the Body of Nurse Edith Cavell in Norwich Cathedral. Edith was executed by the Germans in 1915. There is a small 'edited' note from the soldier to his wife which verifies this, eluding to fact that the boat he is to sail home in has 'sealed orders'. There is some damage, typical of Faience Delft Ware, but all in all, they are old and interesting items.
