It is incredibly comprehensive, with pages of recipes and advice, thoughtfully written and presented to address some of the failures of earlier Books on Cooking. The author argues that many previous Cookery Books have assumed that the reader had more knowledge than they did, which often led to unsuccessful results. It has a few loose pages but for such a weighty and large volume, it is in remarkable condition for a book which is over 100 years old ! There are handwritten additions on the front and end papers, together with several pieces and articles from newspapers and other publications. It has advice on menus, folding serviettes and napkins, drinks, carving, preparing shellfish, vegetables and a huge amount of explanation, expertise and practical information.
